Pep Guardiola is a genius who will make changes at Manchester City but he will not raid Barcelona, insists Nou Camp chief!

City have been linked with Sergio Busquets and Neymar since Guardiola's move to the Etihad was confirmed at the start of February due to the Spaniard's strong ties with the Catalan giants.

Bartomeu, who worked alongside Guardiola during his time as Sandro Rosell's vice-president, remains a big admirer of his fellow Spaniard but is not looking to do business with the former Barcelona head coach.

Guardiola is open to the possibility of England No.1 Joe Hart leaving with question marks over his distribution thought to be at the root of his concerns. Guardiola is said to be interested in bringing in Barcelona's Marc-Andre ter Stegen.

Veteran Martin Demichelis, and Wilfried Bony and Eliaquim Mangala - both of whom have failed to convince - are also said to be for the axe.

Yaya Toure, repeatedly linked with a move away for City, is said to be unwanted by Guardiola as are, surprisingly, Samir Nasri and Fernandinho.

Pep Guardiola will take Manchester City to a new level - chairman

Pep Guardiola will take Manchester City "to a new level", according to club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak.

Ex-Barcelona boss Guardiola has left Bayern Munich to replace Manuel Pellegrini as City manager this summer.

"I'm absolutely exited about Pep joining our team," said Al Mubarak. "I consider Pep to be one of, if not the best manager, in football today.

"We are getting a manager that epitomises passion and commitment. He is a proven winner."

Guardiola was victorious in the Champions League twice at Barcelona, including their treble-winning campaign in 2008-09.

He also won the German league title with Bayern for three successive seasons, although he failed to win the Champions League with the Bundesliga outfit.

Speaking to City's website, Al Mubarak added: "I have no doubt that he will transform our team to a new level."

City finished fourth in the Premier League in 2015-16 as they failed to reclaim the title they won under Pellegrini in 2014.

However, they won the League Cup and reached the Champions League semi-finals, losing to eventual winners Real Madrid.

"Over three years [under Pellegrini] we won our second Premier League title, two League Cups and got to the semi-finals of the Champions League for the first time," said Al Mubarak.

"There are a lot of achievements that have been made in those three years. We should thank Manuel and the team around him and be grateful for these achievements.

IIKAY GUNDOGAN

Manchester City have signed Germany midfielder Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal.

City have reportedly paid the Bundesliga side a fee of about £20m.

The 25-year-old, who will miss Euro 2016 and the start of the new Premier League season through injury, becomes the first signing for incoming City manager Pep Guardiola.

"I'm thrilled to have signed for Manchester City," Gundogan told the club's official website.

"When I learned of City's interest my heart was set on coming here and things have moved very quickly."
